Stansted presses on with terminal extension
14/03/2008
The improvement of Stansted Airport's passenger service was the major focus of a recent ceremony, held to mark the latest phase of development of the airport's terminal extension.
Around £40 million is being invested in the project, which will see 5,900 square metres of floor space added in the international arrivals area.
It is anticipated that the terminal extension will be fully complete by December 2008, with the international arrivals area due to open by the end of June this year.
Stewart Wingate, managing director of Stansted Airport, commented: "I am delighted we have today reached another major milestone in the growth of Stansted.
"Our exciting plans will transform the terminal building and improve even further the levels of customer service we provide to the tens of thousands of passengers who pass through Stansted every day.
"We have ambitious plans to grow Stansted and give passengers more choice to travel to more places than ever before, and we believe this project is an excellent example of how this can be achieved in the most sustainable, responsible and customer-focused way possible."
