Flybe plans to become biggest airline at Cardiff
18/03/2008
Flybe announced on Friday (March 14th) that it intends to become the biggest operator from Cardiff International Airport within three years.
As part of this plan, the low-cost regional airline is introducing four new routes from the Welsh hub, starting at the end of March.
Flybe will operate new services from Cardiff to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey and Newcastle.
Mike Rutter, Flybe's chief commercial officer, commented: "Flybe has a strong track record in providing customers with great value new routes right across our UK network from Inverness to Newquay.
"If anyone needs evidence of our ability to make aviation affordable, look no further than Southampton Airport where five years ago, less than 200,000 passengers used the airport.
"Last year two million flew from Southampton, of which 90 per cent were Flybe passengers. We aim to do exactly the same for Cardiff!"
