Service reshuffle at Teeside Airport
Teeside Airport in County Durham will see its portfolio of service shuffled as two of its main airlines announced major changes.
Firstly, Scottish carrier Flyglobespan had decided to pull out of the regional hub, according to the Northern Echo.
An airport spokesman told the newspaper: "We have been looking at different ways of deploying our aircraft to maximise our products in these challenging economic conditions."
However, there was also good news for air passengers in the region as low-cost Irish airline Ryanair is to operate ten flights per week during the summer season.
The new services will connect Teeside with the top Spanish resorts of Alicante and Barcelona Girona.
Emma Ormerod, the airport's marketing and communications manager, said: "There was an excellent response from passengers to both the flights to Girona and Alicante last summer and we know that there is a strong demand for people wanting to get away for the sunshine.
"We have a long and positive relationship with Ryanair and we're delighted that they are continuing to support the airport and providing great value services to North East customers."
