Swine flu "a serious concern but no cause for panic", WTTC statesThe possible swine flu pandemic that is causing many of the UK's airports to slow down is "a serious concern, but no cause for panic", it has been claimed.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) stated it is unsurprising that the outbreak has worried people all over the world but that appropriate preparation has been made to deal with the infection.

Many flights to and from Mexico have been cancelled after the flu bout was traced back there.

According to the London Daily News, passengers at Heathrow have been screened to ensure that they are not carrying the infection, which has already taken lives in Central America and has been diagnosed in the UK.

Morpeth News reports that Newcastle Airport today (May 1st) raised its level of alert with regards to swine flu.

The newspaper reports that airport bosses are seeking to ensure that the Health Protection Agency has a presence at the travel hub in the event of an emergency.
