easyJet 'cannot host weddings in the air', local council statesBudget airline easyJet will not be permitted to offer couples flying from Luton Airport the chance to get married in the air, it has been reported.

Luton Borough Council has stated that a civil partnership cannot lawfully take place on an aircraft after the carrier applied for pilots to be allowed to head wedding ceremonies.

A spokeswoman for the council, which presides over the Luton region, commented: "We would be happy to consider licensing easyJet's ground facilities at London Luton Airport."

EasyJet UK communications manager Andrew McConnell said that the firm is "very disappointed" by the news.

In other news, the airline recently announced that it will operate a third aircraft from Manchester Airport.

It is thought that the £20 million airbus will service routes to Corfu, Athens, Dalaman and Bastia, which were brought forward from their planned August launch due to high demand from passengers.
