Emergency landing made at Edinburgh Airport
03/06/2009
An emergency was declared at Edinburgh Airport yesterday (June 2nd) after an Air France plane reported problems with its engine.
The flight, bound for London City Airport and carrying 26 passengers, was abandoned after the pilot heard "a clunking noise" coming from the engine.
Emergency services were called to Edinburgh Airport and parts of Glasgow Road were closed off to allow quicker access.
The pilot was forced to circle the area before landing back at the travel hub.
A spokesperson for BAA commented: "The crew reported a rough running engine and a full emergency was declared.
"The aircraft has now landed and a full investigation is under way."
The news comes after Air France lost a flight from Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Monday (June 1st).
