Eastern Airways to begin Southampton to Newcastle business route

Eastern Airways is to offer travellers a new route from Southampton to Newcastle Airport, it has confirmed.

The early morning service will begin on July 6th after demand for the Newcastle to Southampton route rose.

"We've responded to business traveller requirements as it was evident there was a gap in the market for early morning departures from Southampton to Newcastle," Eastern Airways chief operating officer Chris Holliday commented.

"Adjusting the timings allows our Southampton passengers to arrive in Newcastle city centre before 9:00 GMT and helps maximise their time in the north-east," he added.

The carrier reports that passengers can check in 30 minutes before they are due to fly and the flight itself takes around 80 minutes.

Eastern Airways recently announced a similar service from Southampton to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, also due to begin in July.

Meanwhile, easyJet has begun new routes from Liverpool to Bordeaux and Dubrovnik in Croatia after increasing the number of aircraft it operates from the travel hub.
