Birmingham Airport has celebrated the 25th year of its terminal building.
The £29 million facility was officially opened by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on May 30th, 1984.
Paul Kehoe, chief executive officer at Birmingham Airport, said: "It is poignant that at a time when we are focusing on the future, with planning permission secured for a runway extension, that we should also be looking back to the opening of the airport's current site."
Mr Kehoe added that this year is also the airport's 70th anniversary and will see the opening of a new £40 million international pier.
Birmingham Airport served around 1.7 million passengers when its first terminal opened to the public, a figure that is now close to ten million.
Previous to 1984, the facility operated on its original Elmdon site, its website notes.
