Ryanair launches text confirmation serviceBudget airline Ryanair has launched a new scheme that will see booking confirmation details sent to passengers via text message.

According the airline, a fee of one euro will allow travellers to avoid having to print out email confirmations.

The initiative, offered in collaboration with software firm 15 Below, will include individuals travelling from Derry in Ireland to London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow Prestwick and Alicante.

Stephen McNamara of Ryanair said: "This will make travelling with Ryanair even easier as passengers will no longer have to print out their confirmation email, but simply refer to their mobile phone for their flight details."

Nicholas Key, 15 Below managing director, added that the service would enhance the airport experience by offering "personalised travel itineraries".

In related news, Manchester Airport has become the first in the UK to offer recycling zones in its terminals.

The £80 million scheme will be rolled out in conjunction with Coca Cola and the Waste and Resources Action Programme over three years.
