Newcastle Airport hotel 'could be run by Hilton'
A new hotel nearing completion at Newcastle Airport is likely to be operated by the Hilton Group, it has been revealed.
The Journal reports that the £30 million, 187-bed facility will open this month despite its original builders and investors going into administration.
It is thought that the Hilton Group will announce its involvement in the airport hotel in the coming weeks.
A spokesperson told the newspaper: "As we look to introduce our family of hotel brands into the area, we are currently in talks regarding several sites in and around the city and hope to make an announcement shortly, but as yet nothing has been confirmed."
Hilton currently operates a large hotel in Gateshead, which it opened in 2003.
In other airport news, bosses at Bristol International Airport have submitted expansion plans to North Somerset Council.
The £340 million project proposes the doubling of the existing airport terminal, new aircraft stands and the creation of some 3,500 jobs.
