An aircraft at Edinburgh Airport was evacuated yesterday after it began smoking.
The Loganair service to the Isle of Man was emptied of its 24 passengers minutes before it was due to take off, it has been reported.
A spokesperson for the Scottish carrier said: "The engines and electrical systems were immediately shut down by the crew and, as a precautionary measure, the 24 passengers and three crew members were evacuated.
"Loganair would like to offer its sincere apologies to all customers whose journeys have been disrupted by this incident."
The Edinburgh News reports that six fire engines appeared on the scene to contain the small engine fire.
In other airport news, more than 30 European airports have joined a programme that could see them labelled as carbon credited.
UK hubs including Manchester, East Midlands, Humberside and Dublin have voluntarily signed up for the Airport Carbon Accreditation initiative, which will see them assessed by airport trade body ACI Europe.
