18/06/2009
Australian airline Qantas has announced that it will increase the regularity of its flights from Heathrow Airport to Sydney this year.
From August 6th, the carrier said it would add four aircrafts to the route, bringing Sydney-Singapore-London services to four per week.
Qantas America and Pacific senior executive vice president Wally R Mariani said: "By the end of 2009, Qantas will operate 34 services per week between the UK and Australia with its A380 fleet.
"The arrival of our fifth and sixth aircraft later in the year will mean further increases in services to these key destinations."
A similar expansion was announced for the operator's Los Angeles-Sydney route.
Meanwhile, a new hotel nearing completion at Newcastle Airport could be operated by the Hilton Group, it has been reported.
According to the Journal, the £30 million, 187-bed facility will open this month despite its original builders and investors going into administration.
Representatives of both Hilton and Newcastle Airport declined to comment.
