Scotland's airports to serve 270,000 this weekendSome 270,000 travellers will pass through Scotland's main air hubs as schools break up for summer, it has been announced.

According to the British Airports Authority (BAA), flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Orlando, Malaga and Dubai are likely to be most popular among families escaping for their seasonal break.

Numbers could be down on last year, however, due to the strains of the recession.

A BAA spokesman told the BBC: "We're looking forward to the start of a busy summer."

He added that passengers should remember to pack expensive liquids such as perfumes and liquor in their hold luggage or risk having them confiscated by authorities.

In other airport news, Bristol International has announced the opening of a new animal reception centre.

From July 1st, pet owners will be able to fly their cats and dogs in and out of the regional transport hub, subject to strict assessment by specialist vets.
