Air Malta to increase Gatwick service frequencyAir Malta is to increase the frequency of its flights from Gatwick Airport, it has announced.

From November 1st until March 2010, the operator will run nine flights per week, with an additional one added for the Christmas period.

It also announced that its summer 2010 schedule will involve as many as 14 flights per week.

Brock Friesen of Air Malta said: "Gatwick airport is one of the most attractive London airports vis-a-vis leisure short break traffic that requires frequent and convenient schedules. Air Malta is committed to offer both all year round.

"The additional shoulder traffic will bolster the local tourism industry during this challenging period," he added.

Air Malta offers flights from Malta to more than 50 European and North African destinations, including Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Alghero, its website reports.

The service expansions are geared towards ensuring that the airline maintains sustainable seat capacity over the next 18 months.
