Fashion retail hub to open at Glasgow AirportA retail consortium will open 11 new stores as part of an expansion of Glasgow Airport, it has been reported.

McArthurGlen Luxury Retail will overlook a Collezioni travel retail avenue in the travel hub's new departure lounge, offering designer fashionware and full-price brands.

Similar setups already exist at airports in Venice, Porto and Dublin.

Discussing the move with the Moodie Report, chairman Brian Collie
said: "The new Skyhub extension is a superb contemporary setting for Collezioni and the combination of the two demonstrates that medium-sized airports can certainly provide a unique fashion brand experience."

The £31 million Skyhub development is an extension of Glasgow Airport's main terminal building.

Some 30 carriers offer routes to 90 international destinations from the travel hub, serving around eight million passengers.

According to McArthurGlen Luxury Retail research, 80 per cent of individuals that use the airport are from the professional middle classes.
