Flybe launches Leeds to Gatwick route

Regional airline Flybe yesterday (June 29th) launched its first flight from Leeds Bradford Airport to London Gatwick.
The inaugural service to the capital was used by former Emmerdale actor Mathew Bose, who handed souvenir champagne to the flight's first passenger.
Flybe chief commercial officer Mike Rutter commented: "We are delighted to be starting our service from Leeds Bradford to London Gatwick today and to welcome the first passengers on board.
"Our ticket sales have exceeded initial forecasts and I'm delighted to report strong demand on this key route."
The route is serviced by a state-of-the-art Bombardier Q400 aircraft and is priced at £24.99.
In other airport news, TUI Travel UK & Ireland, parent company of Thomson and First Choice, has unveiled a new branded area of Robin Hood Airport.
Passengers travelling from the Doncaster hub will now be served by a dedicated customer service desk, four branded check-in desks, a themed boarding gate and a new children's area.
