FlyBe most popular airline at Cardiff Airport

FlyBe most popular airline at Cardiff AirportFlyBe is currently the most popular airline at Cardiff Airport, statistics reveal.

The low cost carrier oversees 122 aircraft movements from the Welsh base every week, ten more than its closest competitor.

It currently operates seven routes from Cardiff to Belfast City, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey, Newcastle, Paris and Aberdeen.

Spencer Birns, Cardiff Airport head of air service development, commented: "We hope travellers in South Wales will continue to use the services offered by Flybe in order to demonstrate the demand for routes from Cardiff to domestic and other short-haul destinations.

"An increase in passenger numbers would encourage the airline to continue to grow its route network from Cardiff."

FlyBe chief commercial officer Mike Rutter described the news as a "phenomenal success".

In other airport news, Edinburgh Airport was evacuated on Monday (July 6th) after a suspicious bag was found in the main terminal building.

Passengers and staff were allowed back in to the travel hub at around 17:00 GMT, after bomb disposal experts confirmed that the event was a false alarm.
