Flybe and Leeds Bradford Airport lobby for cheaper business air travel
14/07/2009
Leeds Bradford International Airport and budget carrier Flybe have launched a campaign to keep businesses using air travel by slashing prices.
Part of the Get Business Moving initiative, the operator's service to London Gatwick Airport is now priced at £24.99 in order to compete with train fares.
Leeds Bradford Airport bosses are also set to lobby the transport minister for tax reductions for travelling business workers to stimulate growth in the Yorkshire area.
Flybe chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: "We realise that a thriving regional economy needs good air links to London and our aim is to make the price as competitive as possible, offering maximum benefit to the local business community."
Mr Rutter added that passengers could save as much as 40 per cent on the price of tickets to the capital.
Flybe currently operates 190 routes to and from 66 airports in 13 countries worldwide.
