Leeds Bradford plans £28m development
Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) has been given the go-ahead for a £28 million development, which will improve facilities for holidaymakers travelling from the hub.
The scheme will focus on its passenger terminal and include a new departure lounge, a two-story building and a wider selection of retail and catering facilities.
John Parkin, LBIA's chief executive, said: "We are now able to enhance the original vision of the consortium of local councils who previously owned the airport to develop LBIA."
"We are committed to the transformation of the airport to assist the region's economy by encouraging inward investment and creating more jobs."
The airport is currently preparing for a surge in passenger traffic, expected to take place this week.
According to the hub, August 1st to 7th is its busiest period with over 70,000 people expected to travel through the airport during the week.
