Dalaman flights launched from ExeterA 26-week series of Boeing 757 flights between Dalaman in Turkey and Exeter will be launched in May 2010, it has been revealed.

Thomas Cook will operate the route from Exeter International Airport, which will fly weekly to the Turkish destination.

Turkey has proven a popular destination for holidaymakers this year thanks in part to the favourable exchange rate.

Exeter International Airport's managing director, Jamie Christon, said: "The level of interest from the travel trade for these holidays has been unprecedented so we are anticipating additional holiday opportunities with the company next year."

He added that Thomas Cook's support of the Exeter hub was a "good indicator" of the strength of the tourism industry and expressed hopes for continued good relations.

Last month, Flybe, which is based at Exeter International Airport, was celebrating after the Civil Aviation Authority's April/May statistics revealed it carried the largest number of UK domestic passengers in the period.

The airline also carried more domestic passengers to and from London Gatwick than any other airline.
