Luton Airport passenger numbers boosted over summer periodSome 135,000 passengers used London Luton Airport in July, statistics from the travel hub reveal.

According to airport bosses, the end of last month marked the beginning of the summer period, as passengers fly out to popular destinations such as Barcelona, Madrid, Paris and Prague.

The rise in numbers has also been attributed to the start of the school holidays and poor weather at home.

Other popular destinations include Majorca, Alicante, Larnaca, Dalaman and Sharm El Sheikh.

The airport is advising all passengers unsure of security restrictions and what they are allowed to take on board its flights to review the special advisory feature on its website.

Meanwhile, budget airline easyJet recently announced plans to launch a service to Tel Aviv in Israel from Luton.

The six-times-weekly service is scheduled to run every day except Friday, beginning on November 2nd.
