Low-cost carrier Jet2 has announced a new base at East Midlands Airport.
The airline revealed last week (August 28th) it will operate seven routes from the travel hub, beginning in May 2010.
Starting from £59.99 one way, flights will run to Lanzarote, Dalaman, Crete, Corfu, Paphos, Tenerife, Cyprus and Sharm El Sheikh.
The move will create some 130,000 new seats for summer 2010 travel, as well as around 250 employment opportunities at East Midlands Airport.
According to the airline, it will also be possible for passengers to book package holidays through its tour operator, Jet2Holidays, starting from £269 per person for a week break.
Flights to Cyprus and Paphos will kick off the carrier's East Midlands operations when they begin on May 19th 2010.
Jet2 is currently offering flights from Leeds Bradford to Amsterdam for 99p, its website reports.
