Ryanair to cut Stansted-Newquay route due to rising taxes

Ryanair to cut Stansted-Newquay route due to rising taxesRyanair will slash its Newquay to Stansted route due to rising costs, it has been confirmed.

According to the BBC, the airline will cease running the flights from October 1st as part of its new winter schedule.

The firm announced in July that it will cut the number of aircraft operating at Stansted Airport by 40 per cent due to "unjustified" air passenger duty tax.

Speaking to the news source, Teresa Timms, public relations manager of Visit Cornwall, commented: "Obviously we are disappointed, but there are another seven flights a day from Gatwick to Newquay through Flybe and Air SouthWest, so the county is very well served.

"They will continue to bring people to Cornwall through the winter."

Ryanair commented that Stansted is one of its most expensive bases.

Air passenger duty is set to rise from £10 to £11 in November.

The airline is currently offering flights from Stansted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport for £9.99, its website reports.

Ryanair offers more than 800 routes across Europe from its 32 UK bases.
