Ryanair cuts prices on flights to ski havensBudget airline Ryanair has announced it is slashing prices on flights from seven UK airports to popular European skiing destinations.

Services to Grenoble, Cuneo, Salzburg, Lourdes and Turin are now available for £24.99 from Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow Prestwick, Liverpool and London Stansted airports.

The airline provides 50 flights to ski destinations from the UK each week.

Ryanair's Stephen McNamara commented:"With fares this low seats are bound to be snapped up, so passengers should book their winter ski break as soon as possible.

"Even those feeling the financial pinch this year can get away for a great week on the piste."

In related news, high-tech devices could be used to detect swine flu at Birmingham Airport.

A city council scrutiny report suggested installing microphones and heat-sensitive cameras at the travel hub that could allow staff to quickly identify sick passengers and isolate them to receive medical attention, the Birmingham Post reports.

A spokesperson for the airport said that the cost of the proposed system would be too great.
