Low cost carrier Ryanair has announced that will increase passengers' baggage allowance from October 1st.
The airline, which operates at several UK airports including Birmingham, Doncaster and Manchester, will allow travellers to check in two bags weighing a maximum of 15kg each, double the current allowance.
According to Ryanair, the change reflects a 20 per cent fall in cost of the carrier's average fares.
The company will also increase its excessive baggage fees from October 1st in a bid to encourage customers to travel light.
Stephen McNamara commented: "In order to persuade passengers to travel with carry-on bags only and to defray the cost of some of these fare reductions we are increasing baggage allowances and fees with effect from October 1st.
"Over 70 per cent of Ryanair passengers will be totally unaffected by these changes."
Ryanair will serve around 67 million travellers this year, its website states.
The carrier coordinates a fleet of 190 Boeing 737 and 800 aircraft.
