Jet2 has announced a new route from Manchester Aiport to Madeira.
Beginning in summer 2010, the flights will make up the first low-cost service to the Portuguese island from the north-west.
The flights will be priced at £49.99 one way and will operate every Monday from May 3rd 2010.
Philip Meeson, Jet2 boss, said: "Madeira is a stunning island and an absolutely fantastic summer holiday destination which I am sure will be extremely popular with our customers."
"We are the only airline to offer direct scheduled services to Madeira, meaning that this service will benefit people from the north-west and beyond."
The Madeira route is the fifth new service that Jet2 will add to its Manchester Airport operations in 2010.
Other new flights are set to include Gran Canaria, Kos, Venice and Tunisia.
In other news, Glasgow Airport has seen a rise in the number of English travellers using its facilities after a successful promotional campaign.
According to airline relations manager Paul White, English passenger numbers have risen by ten per cent due to competitive pricing at the travel hub.
