Budget carrier BMI has announced the closure of several routes this winter.
The airline's website reports that it will close flights from Manchester to Glasgow and East Midlands to Cologne later this month (September), followed by services from London Heathrow to Palma and Venice in November.
BMI's website notes: "The decision to withdraw the services below hasn't been easy, as BMI has operated these routes for a number of years."
"However, a decline in demand coupled with an increase in costs has made operating these routes unsustainable," it adds.
The carrier also highlighted that its customer relations team will help those with bookings on the affected services to rearrange their journey "with the minimum of disruption".
In other news, the airline is celebrating the ten-year anniversary of its route between Edinburgh and Leeds Bradford airports.
The twice-daily service was praised by BMI regional commercial director Peter Kenworthy as being popular among business and leisure travellers alike.
BMI is the second largest airline operating at London Heathrow Airport, its website states.
