London Luton Airport has appointed a new community relations executive, it has announced.
Sian Pearce has taken on the role, which will see her collaborate with colleagues and airport stakeholders in delivering Luton's community engagement strategy, published in January 2008.
The travel hub hopes to improve in three areas by promoting a better environment, a growing economy and a vibrant community by 2012.
Simon Earles, corporate social responsibility general manager at Luton Airport, said: "Sian brings with her lots of experience working with school educational programmes, volunteering and community projects and is passionate about how we can make a positive contribution to our community."
Part of the Luton in the Community scheme sees the airport nominate a charity of the year.
This year saw the accolade go to the Pasque Charity, which works to provide specialist palliative care for adults and children with life-limiting conditions.
The organisation was awarded an initial donation of £10,000 from the airport, its website states.
