Bmi wins short-haul awardBmi has won an award for its travel services, it has been reported.

The airline, which operates from a number of UK airports including Manchester and Leeds Bradford, was presented a Conde Nast Traveller Readers' Award at a ceremony at the Royal Institution in London.

Competing with the likes of British Airways and KLM, Bmi won best short-haul leisure airline.

Bmi managing director Dominic Paul commented on the award: "We are delighted to be recognised by the discerning readers of Conde Nast Traveller as offering a quality leisure product and we are very proud of our win.

"It is great that our child-friendliness and value are acknowledged."

The carrier scored 87 per cent in the short-haul leisure category and was also the runner-up in the best business airline award.

Some ten million passengers used Bmi in 2008, its website reports.

It employs more than 4,000 workers.
