Low-cost carrier Jet2 has revealed a new agreement with global distribution system (GDS) company Travelport GDS.

The airline, which operates from a number of UK bases including Belfast, East Midlands and Leeds Bradford, has agreed to make its full content available via a direct connect solution, allowing travel agents to quickly and easily allocate passenger seats.

Jet2 is the third carrier this year to sign up for the system, which automatically passes booking details to agents' back office for accounting.

Jerome Moisan, Travelport GDS UK & Ireland general manager, commented: "This technology effectively enables travel agents to compare low cost alternatives alongside traditional airfares in their preferred booking environment.

"It also provides low cost airlines with a very efficient and simple means of distribution."

The system is expected to be rolled out to Asia and the Middle East later this year.

Meanwhile, Jet2 recently added flights to Corfu to its East Midlands operation.

Starting at £59.99, the scheduled services leave the UK at 07:00 BST every Monday and arrive at 12:15.
