Monarch serves half a million passengers on Luton to Larnaca service
By James Wilson.
Monarch has carried half a million travellers on its route from London Luton Airport to Cyprus since it was launched in March 2007.
The airline reports that its flights to Larnaca were so successful in their first year that they were also rolled out to London Gatwick and Manchester airports in the summer of 2008 and Birmingham in early 2009.
Celebrating this success, the carrier is now offering passengers half-price extra legroom on the service at £12.50.
Liz Savage, Monarch's managing director of flights and holidays, stated: "Flying to Cyprus has been a real success story for Monarch and we are delighted to have already reached half a million passengers."
She added that the service provided on Monarch flights is "over and above the levels provided by most low fare airlines and is perfectly suited for longer flight sectors such as the Eastern Mediterranean".
There are 48 seats with six inches of extra legroom on every flight from Luton to Larnaca.
Earlier this month (October 19th), the carrier announced new routes from Birmingham, Gatwick, Luton and Manchester to the Canary Islands of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
It now operates routes from its UK bases to 15 destinations.
