Ryanair has announced a new route linking Edinburgh with the French city of Bordeaux.

Beginning on December 17th, the service is being celebrated by the carrier with the release of one million 15 euro (£13.43) fares on flights across its European network until the end of the year.

Customers booking online will be eligible for the offer.

Ken O'Toole of Ryanair said: "Ryanair is delighted to join up with Bordeaux Airport to finally bring really low fares, competition and choice to consumers.

"Ryanair's partnership with Bordeaux will create a flood of new tourists and visitors to the region."

Bordeaux is currently only served by services hosted by Air France.
Ryanair will simultaneously roll out flights to the city from Brussels Charleroi, Bologna and Porto.

Earlier this month (October 6th), the airline reported that the traffic across its European network increased by 17 per cent in September, compared to the same month in 2008.

In the year leading up to September 2009, the carrier provided 63.3 million seats.
