Winter schedule kicks off at Southampton Airport
By Nick Jones.
The winter season has started at Southampton Airport, it has been revealed.
Some 49 routes from the air hub to the UK, Channel Islands and Europe began yesterday (November 4th), many of which are brand new.
Domestic services link the Hampshire city to Durham Tees Valley, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Belfast airports.
Kevin Brown, Southampton Airport managing director, commented: "The launch of more new routes this year is fantastic news for the region's travellers.
"So whether youre looking for business flights, a city break or to sample the ski slopes, there really is something for everyone."
Customers looking for a break further afield might consider flights from Southampton to Salzburg, Geneva, Chambery, Berne, Malaga, Bergerac or Alicante.
Due to strong demand, the carrier has also launched a twice-weekly, all-year-round route to Avignon in the south-east of France, with one-way tickets starting at £39.99, including tax and charges.
Its new service to Durham Tees Valley Airport will operate twice a day at a one-way price of £69.
Southampton Airport was recently shortlisted for the Best UK Airport Award at the Business Travel Awards, which will be awarded in January 2010.
