Low-cost airline easyJet has launched operations in Germany.
The carrier is now offering new services from Dusseldorf International Airport to Basle twelve times per week.
Served by Airbus A319 aircraft, the flights leave every morning and evening and take around one hour and 20 minutes.
Thomas Haagensen, easyJet Germany chief executive, commented: "Offering Dusseldorf as a new destination is an important step for us.
"By this we are further increasing our offer on heavily travelled routes and we are providing reasonable and attractive alternatives for the passengers."
Basle is well-known for its beautiful old town, museums, parks, fine cuisine and shopping opportunities, the airline reports.
Furthermore, the airline revealed that it will begin services from Dusseldorf International to Rome Fiumicino and London Gatwick airports at the beginning of February 2010.
Routes to Gatwick will operate from February 2nd at 16:45 GMT mid-week, 14:55 on Saturdays and 16:50 on Sundays, while evening flights to Rome will take off six days a week from February 1st.
Last month (October 26th), easyJet announced 25 new winter routes, including Manchester to Marrakech, Liverpool to Fuertaventura, Gatwick to Porto and Luton to Sharm El Sheikh.
