Wizz Air is celebrating the second anniversary of its route from London Luton Airport to Transylvania in Romania.

The carrier has served more than 120,000 on the service since it began its five-times-weekly schedule in October 2007.

It has since built its Luton portfolio up to 15 routes, linking the London base with Bucharest, Bourgas, Budapest, Katowice, Poznan, Kiev, Prague, Varna, Wroclaw and other major European destinations.

Simon Harley, London Luton Airport business development manager, said: "We are delighted with the success of the Transylvania route, one of 15 destinations now operated by Wizz Air, an important partner in the ongoing success of the airport."

Transylvania is known as the homeland of the fictional character of Dracula and offers scenic vistas, medieval towns and ancient castles.
Wizz Air is the largest low cost airline based in Central and Eastern Europe.

Some ten million travellers passed through the gates at Luton Airport in 2008, making it one of the UK's largest airports.

Ryanair, easyJet, Thomson, Monarch, EL AL, Wind Jet, Flybe and Blue Air also operate from the facility.
