BA releases top ten list for 2010
By Mike Booth.
British Airways (BA) has named its top ten holiday destinations for 2010.
Incorporating events such as the Fifa World Cup, the Winter Olympics and the Paralympic Games, the carrier has chosen a diverse set of places that could appeal to travellers in the new year.
Ranked number one is Cape Town in South Africa for the World Cup in June, as well as its well-known wines, beaches and mountains.
It is closely followed by Istanbul, recently named European capital of culture 2010, Las Vegas and Vancouver, a popular choice among skiers and snowboarders wanting to get away.
Richard Tams, BA head of UK and Ireland sales, said: "Customers recognise that there's a world of opportunity out there - from tiger safari in India to the Fifa World Cup in South Africa and the bright lights of Las Vegas."
Other destinations that ranked highly include Dubrovnik in Croatia, Stockholm, New York, the Maldives and Delhi.
BA runs 45 flights per week to five destinations in India from UK airports such as Manchester and London Heathrow, making it a market leader.
The airline celebrated its 90th anniversary in August this year.
