Thomson unveils top festive break destinations

Thomson has created a shortlist of top Christmas and New Year holiday destinations.

Part of the TUI Travel PLC along with tour company First Choice, the carrier has recommended a number of destinations that could appeal to Brits hoping to escape over the festive period.

According to Thomson, travellers may enjoy a short break in Morocco, where they can find all manner of handmade gifts in the bazaars of Marrakech.

Individuals looking for guaranteed good weather might look to Mexico, which boasts white beaches and a laid-back atmosphere.

A truly unique experience, however, can be gleaned from a visit to Lapland.

The airline states: "There's nowhere more magical to celebrate New Year than amongst snow covered pine trees under the world's best natural fireworks display of the Northern Lights in beautiful Lapland."

It adds that holidaymakers can take a trip on a snowmobile or husky sleigh before enjoying a Gala dinner in the warmth of a luxury hotel.

Thomson offers flights from 20 UK airports to more than 80 international destinations.

Its UK bases include East Midlands, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Glasgow, London Stansted and Newcastle.
