Toilets at Manchester Airport named best in UK

The toilets at Manchester Airport are the best in Britain, it has been stated at an award ceremony.
The airport won a prize at the 2009 Loo of the Year Awards Ceremony after secret judges rated its terminal one and two facilities 'five-star'.
As many as 300 people are employed to keep the airport's 1,015 toilets, 1,021 sinks and 464 urinals the cleanest in the UK.
Sarah Barrett, head of customer experience at Manchester Airport, said: "The airport has won some very prestigious awards this year, but we are absolutely delighted to have earned this recognition because in order to meet the expectations of our customers, we must get the basics right."
She added that the cleaning staff are among the "unsung heroes" of the airport.
Mike Bone, managing director of the Loo Of The Year Awards, commented that the 1,500 entries into the awards were judged on 100 criteria.
Around 22 million journeys to 190 destinations start from Manchester Airport every year.
It is part of the Manchester Airports Group, which also includes East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside airports.
