Flyglobespan: Funding package talks continuing

Flyglobespan: Funding package talks continuingTalks regarding a potential funding package for major Scottish carrier Flyglobespan are ongoing, according to the company.

The airline said it is conducting talks with Halcyon Investments that could result in an agreement that would enable the company to continue its expansion and offer more services for holidaymakers from airports such as Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Significant losses were announced by the carrier last year and the firm has pulled out of the Durham Tess Valley airport within the past few months, but earlier in 2009 it announced an operating profit of £1.2 million.

The airline said: "Globespan confirmed that their proposed investment from Halcyon is still in progress and both parties are committed to reaching a positive outcome."

Flyglobespan has been in operation for eight years and travels to various European destinations as well as Florida and Egypt.

In other news, the Association of Independent Travel Operators has warned that strike action planned by British Airways cabin crews could cause severe delays over the Christmas period.
