Airports re-open after snowfallBy James Wilson.

Services at Manchester Airport have resumed after snowfall caused delays and cancellations.

A spokesman revealed that snow and ice caused delays of 90 minutes as the runway was cleared, but that flights were beginning to move again by yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

He commented that the airport's runway one is now open: "We are still keeping an eye on the weather and the situation could change but everything's moving now.

"There will be some delays but we are stressing to travellers to contact their operators if they are travelling over the next few days."

The spokesperson added that a number of flights were cancelled or delayed over the weekend.

In related news, Gatwick Airport was closed for seven hours on Friday (December 18th), with low-cost airline Ryanair confirming delays to around 35 of its services from the travel hub.

London Luton Airport was also forced to close temporarily, but re-opened fully yesterday.
