The majority of Brits who holidayed in the UK in 2009 will venture abroad next year, new figures indicate.
According to a survey of 3,000 people carried out by Simon Seeks, 56 per cent hopes to jet off to destinations such as France, Spain and the US in 2010.
Some 41 per cent will be able to do so by cutting back on their holiday budget, while 40 per cent will work overtime and 14 will sacrifice home improvements.
Simonseeks founder Simon Nixon commented: "Staycation was the buzz word of 2009 but it seems that 2010 is will be more about a compromise culture, with people giving up short-term benefits to ensure they can afford that holiday abroad."
Around 80 per cent of those surveyed said money would be their biggest travel concern in 2010 and 46 per cent will avoid destinations where the pound is weak.
In related news, Thomson Airways recently announced the launch of a new service from Exeter Airport to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.
