Manchester Airport has been temporarily shut due to heavy snowfall in the north of England.
Bosses are hoping to reopen the facility at 12:00 GMT, yet the weather conditions in the Manchester area are poor, with delays expected later today (January 5th).
A spokesman for Manchester Airport said: "A significant amount of snow has fallen overnight and runway one is being cleared of snow and ice. Staff are also working hard to clear the airport site of snow and ice this morning but there have been a small number of cancellations during the night."
He added that passengers should check on the status of their flights with their respective airlines and warned against non-essential travel.
Many services scheduled for early this morning have been diverted or cancelled.
Meanwhile, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Leeds Bradford International Airport are expected to remain closed today.
Low-cost airline easyJet also confirmed that it has cancelled a number of flights, including those between London Luton Airport and Milan.
