Irish operator Aer Lingus has confirmed it will run a twice-daily service between Cork and London Gatwick Airport.

Beginning on March 6th, the flights will run in the morning and the evening, a fact that could make the service appealing to travelling business workers.

Commenting on the new flights, Aer Lingus corporate affairs director Enda Corneille stated that they would offer passengers more flexibility and choice when travelling to the south-east of England.

"The new service will complement our four daily services between Cork and London Heathrow and will further strengthen business, leisure and connecting traffic between the south of Ireland and London," she added.

According to the airline, the services will leave London Gatwick Airport at 06:50 and 17:50 GMT and Cork at 09:55 and 21:00 GMT each day.

Aer Lingus already operates flights from Cork to a number of European destinations, such as Rome, Berlin, Malaga, Lanzarote, Munich and Paris.

In related news, the carrier is currently offering one-way tickets from Cork to Munich for £29.99, including tax and surcharges.

The deal applies to seats booked for travel between January 27th and March 24th using a Visa Electron card.
