TV comedian stopped at Glasgow Airport
By Sam Lock.
Comedian Dom Joly has revealed how he was held at Glasgow Airport after filming a TV stunt dressed as Tintin.
The actor was shooting a documentary at the airport and reportedly raised suspicion after a fake knife fixed to the kilt he was wearing was spotted by staff.
Mr Joly told the Scottish Daily Record: "Firstly, the X-ray machine showed up the replica knife that traditionally accompanies Scottish garb, which was immediately confiscated.
"This led to a thorough search of Tintin's suitcase."
The comic and his crew were eventually allowed to pass through Glasgow Airport to board their flight to Scottish island Barra, where Joly hoped to research the Black Island of the famous Tintin story for a Channel 4 documentary.
According to the celebrity, who is best known for stunt comedy show Trigger Happy TV, his experience at the airport was "surreal".
In related news, Kiss Flights recently announced that it will replace flights lost at Glasgow Airport when Scottish carrier Flyglobespan went into administration.
The new flights will link the city with Spain, Cyprus, Portugal, Greece and Turkey.
