Manchester Airport wins two industry awards

Manchester Airport has won a four major travel industry awards, it has been announced.
Bosses revealed yesterday that the facility was named best UK airport at the Business Travel Awards last week (January 18th), triumphing over East Midlands Airport due to its improvement in environmental measures and customer satisfaction.
Dubai Airport was also recognised with an award, while Lufthansa won best airline.
On top of this, Manchester Airport was also crowned best regional UK airport at the Travel Weekly Globe Awards 2010.
Beating off competition from a number of airports, including Bournemouth, Birmingham International, Cardiff, Glasgow, London Heathrow and Stansted, Manchester was ranked number one after some 62,000 votes were counted.
In related news, more than a tonne of live coral was seized at Manchester Airport this week (January 28th).
The UK Border Agency discovered the rock, which is protected as an endangered species, after the contents of a cargo freighter were incorrectly described.
