Star1 to link Vilnius with Edinburgh Airport
By Nick Jones.
Lithuanian airline Star1 is set to add a fifth route to its Vilnius roster this year, it has announced.
Beginning on March 28th, the new scheduled flights will link the city with Edinburgh on Thursdays and Sundays until May 7th, when it will shift to Fridays and Sundays.
The carrier also offers regular routes from Vilnius to London Stansted, Milan, Dublin and Girona Barcelona.
Company head Martynas Laivys said: "Our constantly expanding market share and growing passenger flow enables Star1 Airlines to establish itself as the only Lithuanian low-cost airline and further develop new routes and services."
Mr Laivys added that Star1 does not charge passengers for items of luggage unless they exceed 20kg, helping passengers lower the cost of their journey.
Its flights to Dublin, Girona and Milan will commence in May, while its route to London Stansted from Vilnius is expected to launch on April 29th.
Star1 carried 24,000 passengers in its first quarter of operations between July and September 2009.
