Four in ten Brits injured on snow holidaysBy Nick Jones.

Around 40 per cent of Brits have had an injury while skiing or snowboarding, it has been reported.

Figures from a survey conducted by Holiday Extras suggest that 41 per cent of British holidaymakers have sustained an injury on the slope.

In news that might interest customers flying from London Heathrow Airport, some 31 per cent reported bumps, cuts and bruises, while six per cent commented on broken bones and four per cent on something more serious.

Around a quarter (26 per cent) have not been injured, while a third (33 per cent) of Holiday Extras customers do not ski or snowboard.

Michael Imperato, ski and holiday claims specialist, stated that travellers heading abroad for a break should ensure they do not take on challenges that stretch their abilities too much.

"A recent high court case emphasised the need for skiers to take responsibility for their own safety," he said.

He added that carrying a piste map could help many skiers and snowboarders avoid an accident.

Meanwhile, the economic downturn has led to a shortage of peak season snow holiday bargains, according to This is London.
