Travellers planning to fly from London Gatwick Airport this half term should be wary of severe weather conditions, it has been claimed.
According to the Daily Mail, the south-east of England has been witnessing major delays on motorways and roads due to ice and snow.
Passengers heading to the airport should check conditions before leaving and ensure they take extra care when driving.
A spokesperson for the airport told the newspaper: "Between Friday and Monday we will have 400,000 people travelling through the airport, with Sunday the busiest day for travel with 100,000 holidaymakers."
The representative added that Gatwick Airport does have contingency plans for bad weather that it will implement this weekend.
Meanwhile, business heads have called for new Gatwick chairman Sir David Rowlands to reconsider his decision to delay the construction of a second runway at the hub by at least ten years.
Jeremy Taylor of the Gatwick Diamond Business Association told the Crawley News that although they should secure government support beforehand, airport bosses should think about how the expansion would boost local businesses.
