UK travellers hoping to see the 100 wonders of the modern world can do so on a budget of £29,291, it has been claimed.

According to travel insurance firm P J Hayman, the whole experience would take 17 weeks or 123 days and would see passengers visit 44 countries.

Customers could fly from Birmingham Airport to a number of destinations to begin the trip, which would see them spend £481 on visas and almost £4,000 on accommodation.

Director Peter Hayman said: "This research shows just how easy it is to see the many modern wonders of the world."

He added, however, that individuals considering the once-in-a-lifetime experience should seriously consider taking out a travel insurance policy the cover them in the event of illness or an accident.

Some 12 of the modern wonders of the world are located in Italy, while China boasts seven.

P J Hayman offers a number of specialist policies, including travel plus, free spirit and adventures.
