Low-cost carrier Ryanair has announced it will commence a new service from Newcastle Airport this spring.
Linking the north-east with Oslo-Rygge Airport in Norway, the route will begin on May 19th and will operate three times per week from £23.99 one way, including tax and surcharges.
The carrier is celebrating the announcement with a sale of one million seats across 500 European routes, priced at £5 and available for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday in March and April.
The deal applies to passengers paying with MasterCard Prepaid.
David Laws, chief executive of Newcastle International, said: "Norway now becomes even easier and cheaper to reach by air from our region and is a fantastic country to visit for both holidays and business."
"The north-east stands to benefit from a very significant increase from tourism and inbound business," he added.
According to the airline, the new service could boost the regional economy to the tune of £7 million.
Today (February 26th) saw the carrier donate 110,000 (£98,000) to charity Kids raised through the sale of Ryanair cabin crew calenders.
